Reddit Premium is Reddit's paid subscription, which removes ads, grants access to r/lounge, and provides a monthly allocation of coins for awards. It costs roughly $5.99/month or $49.99/year and is mostly a quality-of-life upgrade rather than a feature unlock.

The core benefits are: no ads anywhere on Reddit, a small monthly coin stipend used to give awards on posts and comments, access to the members-only r/lounge subreddit, and a premium account flair. Premium does not increase posting limits, change ranking, exempt you from rate limits, or grant any moderation privileges.

For most users, the ad-free experience is the main value. For marketers, Premium is rarely worth subscribing to because the additional features don't help with monitoring, posting, or distribution. Reddit's API and public web endpoints are accessible the same way regardless of Premium status.

Reddit has restructured the awards and coins system multiple times. The classic Gold/Silver/Platinum award tiers were deprecated in 2023; the current system uses a smaller set of awards purchased with coins. Subreddits can offer custom contributor benefits, but these are separate from sitewide Premium.

For businesses, Reddit's actual paid product is Reddit Ads (formerly Reddit Promoted Posts), which is unrelated to Premium. Reddit Ads lets you target by subreddit, interest, keyword, and audience signals, and is billed through Reddit Ads Manager. Reddit Premium is purely a consumer subscription and offers no advertiser-side capabilities.
