Reddit thread analyzer — engagement stats for any Reddit post

Paste a Reddit post URL and see upvote velocity, comment-to-upvote ratio, top comments, and whether the post was timed well. Useful for analyzing competitor posts, your own launches, or threads you are considering replying to.

How this works

We fetch the post via Reddit's public /comments/<id>.json endpoint, compute score velocity (upvotes per hour), comment-to-upvote ratio, and the day-of-week and UTC hour the post was created. We also include the top 5 comments.

What "engagement verdict" means

Strong: at least 0.15 comments per upvote — the post is sparking discussion. Light: under 0.05 — high upvotes but few replies, often a popular link with little conversation. Normal: between those thresholds.

When to use it

Run it on your own launch post 1-2 hours in to see whether timing was on. Run it on a competitor's viral thread to study what kind of post resonates. Run it on a thread you might reply to so you understand the room before commenting.

FAQ

  • Can I analyze deleted threads?

No. Reddit returns 404 for deleted or removed posts on the public endpoint. The tool will show "Post not found or removed".

  • How is upvote velocity calculated?

Total score divided by hours since the post was created. We floor age at 1 hour so very fresh posts don't divide by tiny numbers.

  • Does this work for old.reddit.com links?

Yes. Old, new, www, and redd.it short links all work. You can also paste just the post ID.

  • What about NSFW threads?

We surface NSFW posts with a badge but don't filter them — the engagement data is still useful.
